The Gel-Kinetic FR Might Be Cecilie Bahnsen’s Best Asics Yet

Asics and Cecilie Bahnsen are back with a new collaboration, and arguably one of the strongest since their partnership began in 2022.

The collaboration was an immediate success and has only continued to grow since. A lot of models have been released along the way, sometimes too many, if you ask me, but that’s often what happens when a collaboration works almost too well : we end up flooded with product.

That being said, this pair is particularly successful. It arrives at an interesting moment, as Asics introduces the new GEL-KINETIC FR, essentially a modern reinterpretation of the Gel-Frantic, an archival silhouette from the brand.

There’s also something about it that reminds me of Kiko Kostadinov’s Asics Novalis Gel-Teremoa.

We’ve been sharing different versions of the Gel-Frantic for a while now, so it’s great to see Asics digging back into such an interesting part of its archive, even if this modern interpretation remains quite different from the original.

For those of you deep into Asics, the heel also brings to mind Kiko’s Gel-Terserakt. All these references come together to make this one of the most interesting Asics silhouettes we’ve seen recently.

Kiko Kostadinov x Asics Gel-Terserakt

Cecilie Bahnsen has translated her universe perfectly onto this new silhouette, from the strap and quick-lacing system to the floral detailing that has become such a recognizable part of her work with Asics.

Two colorways are set to release : metallic pink and brown. Personally, I’m definitely leaning towards the metallic pair.
